Teachers' student evaluations: the tables are turned

OSCAR DAVID GOMEZ ZUÑIGA
Teachers evaluation by students

The tables are turned

Although the grades offered by students are not always objective,  students are more qualified than a principal or other authorities   measuring  the  teacher’s work in the classroom.  they are the ones who interact the most with the teacher and can observe and feel the effect the teacher has on them. Besides, teachers need to know what their students think about their work in order to adapt and improve their work to student’s needs.

Secondly, it is good for students to grade their teachers because if teachers get feedback they realize   their flaws and strengths and will be able to highlight their qualities and try to improve their flaws with bright aspects.  In addition, when students have the responsibility of grading their teachers they realize how hard and demanding it is to keep yourself objective at the time of grading someone so they will respect more their teachers and take more seriously their responsibilities.

Finally, I think students are in the in their right to grade their teacher if they are objective and have good arguments to do it. Teachers and students will start  seeing constructive changes that will benefit both teachers and students.
