LUZ ADRIANA CARDONA SANCHEZ
The procedure of the class needs to be
changed. May people have thought about themselves living the English culture? May
people have thought about communicating with foreign people just being the
center of the class? Would people dare to study in this way? Now, they can
design their project and live their dreams. It is time to move forward and
touch the whole world around through this language. Frey (2007) found that the highest leverage
point for improving society is our education system. According to this author, what people need is called: Transition from Teaching to Learning. It
means that everybody will have a personal development by exploring their skills
through the elements they prefer.
The education system of the future will
undergo a transition from a heavy emphasis on teaching to a heavy emphasis on
learning says Frey (2007). That is to say that the transition from teaching to
learning is based on a system whose target is to develop the intellect. This
process combines the students’ aim for independent research and solving
problems while they are thinking, participating, proposing and designing. In
this way, the only one thing the students have to do is just to turn on their
brain, let the ideas of their mind come out
and share them without worrying about making mistakes.
Now pretend that the
future of education is our hands, imagine classes where students are the main
character and they have to solve a situation. The teacher is a kind of adviser.
In the future, according to Frey (2007)
teachers will transition from topic experts to a role in which they act more as
guides and coaches. While the students arrive to class, they notice that it says on the
whiteboard : “how can you keep the school clean?” for this assignment, it
is necessary to work in groups and consult: what ideas they all have and start a process of cooperation, observation, reflection and production.
